The event that is considered the kickoff for the Monterey weekend is fabulous. Gordon McCall’s 22nd Motorworks Revival party held
Wednesday, August 14th featured bright colors, fascinating designs, great lines, the well-known and not-so-well known. The featured
cars, motorcycles and airplanes were really special too!
Despite being a cloudy late afternoon at the Monterey airport, the number of vehicle carriers along the way and small jets at the airport
was a hopeful indicator of what attendees were in store for. Jason, the ever-present parking director and his crew did an excellent job of
lining up the cars.
A short stroll around the Monterey Jet Center administrative building, around the corner, and ta-da! Plenty of staff to hand out tickets and
at the entrance, two rows of identically dressed servers each with flutes of champagne on a tray as party goers walk on the blue carpet.
What a start!
Sleek lines best describes the attendees, both mechanical and carbon based! Several luxury jets and propeller planes could be
boarded, and various exotic cars could be sat in. Aston Martin had the largest presence with many models present including the ultrarare
One-77, the debut of the 2013 Vanquish and the V-12 Vantage S!
Breitling watches partnered with the California Highway Patrol 11-99 charity foundation for a $100 per ticket raffle of the Skyracer watch.

Breitling also featured a display of watches along with a Bentley having a stunning Breitling limited edition Continental with a factory
representative to answer questions.
The North American debut of two examples of the superb and obtainable 2014 Maserati Ghibli was compliments of Maserati of
Sacramento. Mr. Pagani was present with a carbon fiber intensive, sculpted Pagani Huayra masterpiece; a crowd and enthusiasts
favorite. Octane Magazine hosted an even more exclusive lounge upstairs.
Copious amounts of champagne and wine was served and the hors d’oeuvres were a culinary delight compliments of the Bernardus
Lodge with Chef Cal Stamenov . The music made for the perfect accompaniment of the atmosphere. Particularly telling was how well the
event was attended even at the 10pm closing time despite starting at 5pm.
Capturing the essence of the weekend is what Gordon McCall’s party does best. Phenomenal vintage and modern automobiles,
motorcycles and aircraft with a first class atmosphere and accommodations make for a superb event!

The Ford Mustang GT350 and GT350R review

It’s the exhaust system. It’s an eye widening, amazing mechanical roar, both exotic and muscular at the same time. And that is in the Sport mode. In the standard mode, it’s a quiet cruiser and an excellent grand tourer. Comparisons to the BMW M4 are immediate and inevitable, it is that dialed in. Ford took the already very good Mustang platform and enhanced the suspension and drivetrain, and based on past drives of the current the model, the some interior bits as well. The 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 is Ford’s flat plane crankshaft V-8 answer to the Camaro Z/28 but is absolutely street friendly and less expensive. The non-R version has a starting MSRP $47,995. It features a 5.2 liter V-8 rated at 524hp at 7500 rpm and a healthy 429 lb-ft. torque at 4,750 rpm. The 8000rpm redline makes for a long, hard pull to redline. With the exhaust in the quiet mode, and 80mph cruise is as silent as the BMW 3-series. Styling takes the great lines of the current GT and adds more aggressive touches withou...

Sixth generation Camaro V6 review

Chevrolet updated the chassis of the Camaro for 2016 with the new Alpha platform and by all accounts the approximately 250 to 300lb weight reduction was a huge improvement. Despite having a brilliant chassis and three powerful engine choices, the interior and outward visibility hardly improved at all. I wanted to like this car, I really did. It has some really good aspects but overall it’s only good for going in a straight line, not reverse or backing up out of any parking space, on public roads or modified into a track-only car.  You decide if the interior justifies a $29,000 MSRP. The 2017 model is essentially the same. The 335hp V-6 is a great engine, responsive, sounds good and with the quick shifting 8 speed automatic, the car is capable of mid-high 13 second quarter mile ETs. It feels every bit as quick as the numbers suggest. It has no appreciable dead spots and has an excellent pull. The 8 speed auto is finicky on the highway though, downshifting at the slightest provocatio...

The San Francisco Auto Show is rolling at the Moscone Center

The 59 th annual San Francisco Auto show returned this past Saturday, November 19 th through November 27 th at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco. Always a bargain to view over 800 vehicles at $10 for adults and children under 12 free. This year expanded further the emphasis on electric, hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. Test drives are offered with thirty vehicles by six different manufacturers including Mercedes and Fiat. Multiple special guests are scheduled throughout the week such as local sports mascots, the Raiderettes, radio and television personality Gary Radnich and more. The Auto Salon which featured modified cars, trendsetters in an eclectic collection. It is in the south hall on the upper level. The signage needs to be increased, but it’s worth a visit. Yes, there were the broken-axle appearing stanced cars and plenty of lowered sedans, but there are some gems as well. Photography is a bit of a challenge due to the cars being too close together, but it’s a...
